      The Land Displacement of Rice Field in Cilacap

 What do you think about the large of the rice field nowadays and a decade ago? You must have seen there is a big different between the large of the rice field nowadays and a decade ago. A decade ago, we were still able to see how large the rice field was. We could pass many roads surrounded by rice field on their sides. We could see a vast green carpet while at the planting season. We could see the beauty of the rice field when the harvest was getting close. But now, the carpet was turned into buildings. If we are travelling to somewhere in Cilacap, we surely a bit difficult can find it.

               It is needed to be proven, whether it is a sort of development or a kind of problem. If we see it comprehensively, it is actually a problem for us. We can see the area of the rice field is getting decrease every year. One of the evidence is when i was a student of senior high school i used to pass the road surrounded by rice field. Yet now, that road has been covered by a lot of buildings. If the area of the rice field is getting decrease, it will cause problem that we will lack of rice field area. The lackness of rice field area will cause another problem, it is the decreasing of rice production. However, the population is getting up really contrasting to the rice field area.

              As we know the long-term danger, the population growth from year to year is increasing and increasing. Data charts listed in the record population growth, if the population continues to grow indirecty human would require land development. Vacant land such as fields and garden will be treatened exhausted to construct buildings such as houses, shops, cafes and other buildings. It is already happening in some areas, such as in Cilacap. In Cilacap been a lot of development going on, such as the closing of land an build a house on that area. It is the thing that causes less land and will cause harm to their own.

               The land displacement will result us in running out of land, and it is feared will reduce food needs in the community. If the displacement still continues, it is possible that we will lack of food supplies. There will be no more place to farm which will result in increasing level of groceries import such as wheat, rice, etc. Farmers can not work and they can not earn money from their field anymore. It may also result a population density because of this displacement. There will be no more green space in order to balance the ecosystem. A rural areas that used to has a cool green rice fields becomes an urban areas.

               In order to minimize the displacement of the rice field to the public area, goverment should build a location for the community in one-stop area which is out of the agricultural land. Therefore, people will not build their house or settlement upon the rice field area. 

               The other way to minimize this problem is by issuing regulation about the restriction of buliding house upon the agricultural area, especially rice field. The goverment should see this as the problem and they are supposed to concern to solve this. On our thought, the regulation must be clear enough in preventing the society to construct building upon the rice field. But, it must be there is cooperation between goverment and society in soving this problem. Besides there should be a regulation, society must be aware that constructing building upon agricuture area, especially rice field, is wrong.
